Truancy is a major obstacle in providing a child with a quality education. The Spreckels Union School District is committed to partnering with the Monterey District Attorneys Office to mediate cases of truancy.
By law, any three unexcused absences or three unexcused tardies of more than 30 minutes constitute a truancy. On the first case of truancy, the school site will send home a letter requesting a parent's attendance at a meeting with the hopes of offering solutions to correct the problem.
On the second case of truancy, a second letter is sent home and copied to the District Attorney and a meeting is scheduled with the DA.
SUSD is committed to working with our parents and if there are circumstances that we should be aware of, please let us know and we may be able to help.
